Teacher Biographies

Jamie-Lynne Goodman

James Madison University, Bachelor of Science in Education

James Madison University, M.A. 

Mrs. Goodman is originally from New York, but moved to Virginia for college. After graduating from James Madison University with her Master’s degree, she moved to Hawaii with her husband, who is in the Navy. In Hawaii, she was able to start her first year teaching in first grade at a small private school on the island. Then, she moved up to third grade, where she developed a love for the new content! Shortly after finishing her second year teaching, Mrs. Goodman moved back to Virginia to continue her teaching career in FCPS. This will be her second year teaching 3rd grade at FSES and in the County and she is so excited to continue her journey with the FSES family! 

Mrs. Goodman loves traveling around the world with her husband, playing outside with her two dogs, Emma and Autumn, spending time with her family. On the weekends, you may find her reading a book outside or shopping at some of her favorite stores! 

Bryn Kandel

Pennsylvania State University, Bachelor of Science in Education
George Mason University, working on Master of Education

Ms. Kandel is originally from a small town near Philadelphia, PA. She attended Penn State University for her undergraduate degree in elementary education with focuses in special education deafness and hearing studies. She is currently enrolled in a Master program at George Mason studying Educational Leadership. Ms. Kandel has taught at Franklin Sherman for four years and serves as the Social Committee chair, Positive Behavior Approach Team Lead, Award Liaison Chair, and Superintendent Teacher’s Advisory Council Lead. In 2015, she was nominated for the FCPS Outstanding First Year Teacher Award. Through her graduate internship, she has supported students at Franklin Sherman Elementary, Cooper Middle School, and McLean High School in addition to participating in the FCPS Leadership Conference. When Ms. Kandel is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, cheering on Penn State’s football team, and traveling to explore new cities! 

Shelby Wright

Pennsylvania State University, Bachelor of Science in Education with minor in Special Education

Miss Wright moved to McLean over the summer. It is her first year at Franklin Sherman Elementary School. In the past, Miss Wright has had various experiences working with students of all ages and settings. During the 2016-2017 school year, she was selected to be in the Pennsylvania State University’s Professional Development School where she taught third grade students, as well as Kindergarten students. Last summer, she also had the opportunity of working as a Paraprofessional for the Delaware Autism Program with first grade students in the Christina Area School District in Newark, Delaware.

Miss Wright is passionate about building a positive classroom community where students are engaged and challenged to reach their greatest potential!

During her free time, she enjoys playing the ukulele, spending time with family and friends, reading, and cheering on her favorite sports teams: Penn State and the Philadelphia Eagles!
