Multiple Disabilities Teacher

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, concentration in Materials Science, and a minor in Music

George Mason University, working towards Master's in Special Education

Ms. Bedard is a special education teacher for 3rd and 4th grade at Franklin Sherman. She joined the FSES family last year as an Instructional Assistant and is thrilled to have her own classroom this year. Her path to teaching has been a unique one. She grew up in rural Vermont (her family is still there) and loves to visit over winter break and go skiing at Jay Peak. She graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, a concentration in Materials Science, and a minor in Music. After graduation, Ms. Bedard worked in Michigan at a hospital, researching new pathways and technologies to reduce waste and improve sustainability in the healthcare industry. She found the work interesting, but not engaging or fulfilling and began to realize that she had a passion for education and needed to work with a variety of individuals in a social setting. After moving to the D.C. area, Ms. Bedard worked as a math tutor and nanny before finding Franklin Sherman. Ms. Bedard is also a student. She is working to earn her Master’s in Special Education at George Mason University. When she is not working or doing her homework, you might find her playing tennis or hiking in the mountains.
